Candle mold stake 17th-18th c.

Handwrought steel, with one long thin 'horn' and a flat extension on the other end with several grooves and a small hole. On a stake with a tapered end which includes a base. Worn. Formerly displayed as part of the Higgins Armoury display of the shop used by armourers. Illustrated in the Higgins Catalogue page 28 and also on page 30. Acquired by John Woodman Higgins from Sumner Healy Galleries, N.Y., February 24, 1932. Ex-Higgins Armory Museum, Worcester, MA. 27 3/4 in long and 14 3/8 in tall.
